For its Collection Extraordinaire, the House of Van Cleef & Arpels turned to an exceptional ingredient: the rose.
The rose, celebrated as the 'queen of flowers', has been at the center of attention for centuries and served as an inexhaustible source of inspiration for poets and writers, artists, and perfumers.
In creating this new fragrance, the House approached it as a true breeder, creating a new kind of rose: the Van Cleef & Arpels Rose...A magnificent, inviting Rose with a sparkling fruity start, combining blackcurrant absolute and pink pepper.
Its sensual floral 'heart' consists of Turkish rose and the unique ingredient Rose Essential. This is a carefully calibrated combination of different fractions of rose essential oil, which perfectly expresses the mood of this flower.
In the 'trail' notes, an unexpected gourmet shade of cocoa absolute mixes with the exquisite notes of a modern chypre harmony, composed of precious wood species, patchouli, and vetiver.
The idea behind the creation of this fragrance is much more than just recreating the scent of a rose, it is about recreating a unique New Rose. In the 19th century, thanks to Empress Josephine, France became associated with the rose. Josephine's gardens in Malmaison remained the most beautiful collection of roses ever to exist in the world for a long time. Thousands of new varieties were bred there, contributing to the perfection of the magnificent gardens of the most exquisite royal courts of Europe.
To obtain one kilogram of Rose Essential, two thousand kilograms of rose petals need to be collected. This unique ingredient was specially created for the Rose Rouge fragrance.
